Your contribution fuels local business growth, community events, and a thriving downtown — strengthening the heart of Marshalltown for generations to come.
The Marshalltown Central Business District (MCBD), relies on community support to further its mission of creating a vibrant, welcoming, and economically strong downtown.
Since 2002, MCBD has worked to preserve and strengthen the heart of Marshalltown through the nationally recognized Main Street Four-Point Approach: Organization, Economic Vitality, Design, and Promotions. This framework guides MCBD’s work to support small businesses and budding entrepreneurs, invest in creative placemaking efforts that make downtown a place you want to be, and host events that bring the community together.
“Downtown Marshalltown is more than a collection of buildings. It is where neighbors meet, families gather, and memories are made,” said Danielle Lekin, Executive Director of the Marshalltown Central Business District. “When you support downtown, you are investing in a place that belongs to all of us and helps define who we are as a community.”
Friends & Investors contributions directly support the programs and initiatives that bring people downtown and keep them coming back. From technical assistance and promotion for local businesses to alleyway improvements, seasonal décor, and beloved community traditions like Holiday Stroll and Haunt the Block, every gift helps strengthen the district and the community it serves. Community members can become a Friend through a one-time gift or as a monthly supporter. Businesses and organizations are also encouraged to participate as Investors in downtown’s continued growth and success.
