Marshalltown Main Street or MCBD?

We're both! Marshalltown Central Business District (MCBD) is more than just our Main Street. We are [street], [street], [street], and [street]. We are the heart of Marshalltown.

Our Mission

MCBD promotes a strong and dynamic downtown through community engagement and collaborative partnerships.

Current Mission: Through broad-based representation and strong public/private partnership, we will continuously enhance Marshalltown’s central business district creating Central Iowa’s first choice location for businesses, residents, shoppers, diners and visitors.

Our Vision

MCBD aims to make downtown Marshalltown a go to for arts, entertainment, dining, commerce with residential and employment opportunities. Our vision is to restore the buildings downtown so that they are filled with restaurants, retail, and other specialty shops. We also strive for building owners to take part in not only retaining but also attracting new businesses and professionals to the downtown area.

Current Vision:
Marshalltown’s Central Business District, a Main Street Community, is the heartbeat of the city, producing civic, cultural, social, retail, and heritage events for the community.  The CBD will always provide a safe, warm and welcoming venue for nurturing commerce, greater fellowship, continuous learning, and social harmony.

The Marshalltown CBD is a source of civic pride, driving a well-planned roadmap to continuously improve the community environment while preserving our past.  Our historic Marshalltown CBD thrives on the efforts, passion and commitment of the people and businesses that populates its streets.

Our Affiliations

MCBD is an affiliate of Main Street Iowa and Main Street America. This means every business operating in the District is also a member and has access to member benefits. This is only possible through the continued financial investment of individual, business, organizational, and city of Marshalltown investment in our organization.

Our Leadership

Picture

Deb Millizer, Executive Director

Marshalltown Central Business District (MCBD)
Deb. born and raised in Mystic, Iowa, spent much of her childhood on main street (or the "slab" as they called it). In 1988, Deb relocated to the Marshalltown area and grew her family of four to 13 individuals in total.
Deb majored in Psychology, Human Services and Organizational Leadership from Buena Vista University. Prior to accepting the role of Executive Director with MCBD, Deb was the Lutheran Services in Iowa as Family Safety Risk & Permanency Supervisor serving Marshall and surrounding counties.
Downtown Marshalltown is not only the heart of Marshalltown but the heart of Marshall county. When the downtown thrives, the community thrives, and it ripples to surrounding communities. Deb is driven to help Marshalltown's downtown district thrive and become a place where people want to dine, shop, play, and stay.
